About us

FOYA Cyprus is the national office of the Forum for Youth Advocacy. FOYA itself is an international non-governmental organization, with offices in Kenya, Uganda and the UK. The overall mission of FOYA is to promote peace and non-violence to children in conflict areas.

Based in London, the FOYA headquarters works closely with other youth and peace-building organizations, such as the United Network of Young Peacebuilders (UNOY), the Peace Action, Training & Research Institute of Romania (PATRIR), the Center for Research and Development in Zimbabwe, the Sierra Leone Youth Empowerment Office (SLYEO) and the Humber International Development Institute of Toronto.

We at FOYA Cyprus place more emphasis on the education aspect of peacebuilding and believe that by educating the youth and equipping them with the appropriate tools and skills to deal with the complexities of life, peace education will help them develop into more peaceful, open and understanding adults.

 

As a result we hope that our future leaders will be able to create a more peaceful Cyprus, than the one we have left them with. We at FOYA Cyprus are not interested in a political settlement to the long standing Cyprus problem, but moreover believe that through education we can contribute to the development of a culture of peace for all Cypriots.

To become a member simply click on the link below to download a membership application form and return it to us via e-mail.

Membership is open to all and as a member you will be able to stand as a candidate for the FOYA Cyprus Legislative Council, participate in all Annual General Meetings and vote for members of the council.

The cost of membership is €20 per year, which can be paid in person or via PayPal. Click on the "Buy Now" button below to make your membership payment via PayPal. Peace
Lasting peace in Cyprus can only be achieved through education. FOYA Cyprus maintains as it primary principle the idea that peace is not an attainable goal. Rather, peace is an ongoing process and one that all Cypriots must be committed to progressing together.

 

 

Non-violence
FOYA Cyprus is also deeply committed to the concept of a non-violent and demilitarized Cyprus. We seek to create a future whereby the threat of violence will never be of concern for the citizens of Cyprus.

 

 

Equality
Every day the demographics of Cyprus are changing. FOYA Cyprus is committed to fostering a multicultural attitude in Cyprus, whereby all nationalities are respected and diversity is fostered.
